You probably already know that you should wear sunscreen every single day, whether it’s sunny or raining or snowing. But take note that what you use during winter is usually not enough for the summer sun. So, replace the product that you use with a sunscreen that has SPF 50 or higher and contains ingredients that block both UVA and UVB rays. Remember to apply the product 20 minutes before going out and reapply when you’re sweating or swimming.

Moisturize as often as possible

The heat and humidity of summer, paired with intense indoor air-conditioning, can make your skin dry. You can counter this, though, by using a hydrating facial moisturizer and body lotion after taking a bath or shower and spending the day outdoors. If possible, use a tinted moisturizer that has a high SPF so you can add color to your cheeks while protecting it from sunburn and dryness.

Remember other parts of your body

It’s easy to focus just on your face, arms, and legs, but remember that the sun can also reach other areas of your body. So, make sure to apply sunscreen on your nape, chest, hands, and feet, particularly when you’re wearing flip-flops or open-toed sandals. Invest in a lip balm that has moisturizing ingredients as well as sunscreen.

Cover up and seek shelter

Avoid going out between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, which is when the sun is at its brightest. When you do go out, wear clothes and accessories that cover as much of your skin as possible to avoid sunburn.
