Dry Skin? Use These Cheap But Effective Home Ingredients

Dry and flaky skin can be a nightmare. They don’t only look unattractive, they also feel itchy.

So, how do you keep your skin feel soft, smooth and moisturised throughout the year without spending money on expensive creams and lotion? Check out these effective but cheap home remedies!

Milk

Traditionally, milk is used to soften beef without getting it dry or mushy. So, if that’s the case, it would probably make a good soak to soften skin! Don’t worry, you’ll not be the first to experiment, because back in ancient times, milk is widely used for skincare. The infamous Queen Cleopatra bathed in milk to keep skin supple and young looking. Then of course, filling your tub with milk is out of the question. So for practicality’s sake, just soak a small cotton ball in milk, apply it on the dry skin area and the let it stay for at least 30 minutes. Make sure to wash off thoroughly after 15 to minutes to keep bacteria from breeding in your skin.

Cold Shower

While a steamy shower feels soothing, it can strip your skin of its natural oil, making it feel dry. So, if possible, dial down the temperature and allow yourself to enjoy a cold bath. A cold shower costs nothing but offers lots of beauty benefits. It can help refine your hair and skin by tightening your cuticles and pores.

Curd

An ingredient you can just easily prepare, curd is one of the most effective solutions out there for dry skin. To prepare, just add a few drops of lemon in a cup of milk, stir and then let the mixture sit overnight or for several hours inside the fridge until the milk coagulate. Curd has been proven to hydrate skin and soothe dryness and itchiness. It contains lactobacillus bacteria that can combat pimple-causing bacteria on skin.
